Oct. 13 - Bold & Beautiful
A unique and “dramatic” approach to the symphony experience. Nov. 17 - Young Exciting & Very Cool
Julian Pollack was acclaimed by the San Francisco Chornicle as “..a ferociously assured and creatively dazzling pianist, composer and arranger..” and at age 18 was featured on Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz. He went on to open at New York City’s Blue Note for Chick Corea and Gary Burton, and to perform as a sideman with Brian Lynch at the Village Vanguard. March 16 - Stranger In A Strange Land
A program of composers who were driven into unfamiliar circum- stances and responded with their most stellar and innovative creations, Antonin Dvorak a hero of Czech music - was pressured to compose in the style of his Germanic peers. He responded with the Symphony No.
7 in D minor, in which he dazzled his western critics while remaining true to his Slavonic roots. Also featured are Sibelius’s Swan of Tuonela and Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1.

The plays of Shakespeare having inspired musicians for centuries. From the Renaissance to today, none has been more influential than Romeo & Juliet. Featuring versions by Berlioz and Tchaikovsky from the 19th Century and a 20th Century version by Prokofiev, the evening will provide an extraordinary opportunity to experience the emotion of these great artists.
